Point 5:  The Difference
between Spirit and Soul

Hebrews 4:12 (King James Version)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What is the Difference? What do most people say?

NOTE NOTE NOTE: If they can be divided = they cannot be the same!

ONLY THE WORD OF GOD CAN DIVIDE THEM = which means that there will always be a divide between those who are of the Word & those who are not .....

This is the basis of Biblical Division that is in sharp contrast to the Purpose Driven model of drawing all creeds together.

In the American Gold Rush =
those who just touched the surface just got a nugget occasionally:

Those who got rich

DUG DEEP!!!

Are you a surface or deep mine Christian?

In the Bible you can skim along the surface and find the occasional nugget. If you want to get rich in the Word you have to put the effort in and dig deep.

Psalm 42:7 KJV

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Our understanding is the soul (those who work out logically) the depth is in the spirit:

John 7:37-39 (King James Version)

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Those of the Spirit will always overcome:

1 Corinthians 2:10 (King James Version)

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Point 6:  The Saving of the Soul

It is the Spirit of Man that is BORN AGAIN. The Soul is not this. The saving of the soul is a process. This part is saved by the Word of God. This is why we preach for so long to move people higher to the heavenly places through the Word.

Proverbs 20:27  (King James Version)
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

James 1:21 (King James Version)

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Note: The Epistle of James was not written to sinners –
it was written to the Church.

James 1:18-21 (King James Version)

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Luke 4:4 (King James Version)

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

John 6:63 (King James Version)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The Soulish Realm is the realm that needs saving (if born again) and this is saved by the Word of God.

Ephesians 5:26 (King James Version)

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Romans 12:2 (King James Version)

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Psalm 23:3 (King James Version)

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Note: It is the Word of God that saves man’s soul & renews the mind.
This is why those who do not study the Word will always be left behind. IT IS VITAL TO STUDY & STUDY DILIGENTLY!

2 Timothy 2:15-16 (King James Version)

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Apostle John Wesley The devil has given to the Church a substitute for faith which looks and sounds so much like faith some people can't tell the difference = MENTAL ASSENT.

The Greatest Need in the Church today is to have minds renewed with the Word of God. This gets the souls saved of Christians with their withdrawal from the babblings of the mind to the presentation of the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Without your sword you will be defeated. Without your saved soul – you will be of the natural realm as the Sons of Sceva were.

1 Corinthians 1:20-22 (King James Version)

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

Ephesians 6:10-20 (King James Version)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

SPECIAL NOTE:

The Sword has to be applied –

James 1:22 (King James Version)

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

John 17:17 (King James Version)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

1 Peter 1:22 (King James Version)

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned  love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Point 7:  Your Body has to be holy too!

Romans 12:1-2 (King James Version)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The verses show a personal responsibility for our external sanctification– the hyper “grace” message of today being an enemy to your soul & body salvation.

Joshua 3:5 (King James Version)

And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for
tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

1 Corinthians 9:27 (King James Version)

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Jude 1:19-21 (King James Version)

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Romans 8:16 (King James Version)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
