God Anointed – not Purpose Driven 1

1 Corinthians 1:18  King James Version (KJV)

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God

Hearing from God and acting upon that Word is the way the Pioneers of the faith lived their lives - no business methods, no programmes, no changing Word but the continuing
Preaching of the Cross.

This introduction to the “Purpose Driven Church” comes in 2 parts, the first part showing what it means to be led by the Spirit of God, what Jesus meant by his call to divide rather than unify and to give the meaning of true unity, the unity God demands.

The second part proves beyond all doubt that being “purpose driven” is not being driven to success but being driven to a death so great that the Word warns about it. We ask you to compare the Real Church in Union to the new Purpose Driven model. One is LIFE and the other DEATH.

So many are choosing the latter. It is up to the Remnant to stand up and face the Prophet (and Apostles) of Baal who have lured the people away from the landmark of classical Evangelical-Pentecostal belief.

Part 1: The Real Church –
in Union with Christ Jesus

Jeremiah 3:14 King James Version (KJV)

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

1 Corinthians 6:17 King James Version (KJV)

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Reaching the heart is what Christianity is all about. Moving by the Spirit and not by the flesh is the theme to mankind in the whole of scripture.
Here is the observation of Missionary to China Gladys Aylward about Great Britain even in her day!

"Even in the churches themselves, the Christians appeared lukewarm. The women were dressed in the height of fashion, and social events were of much greater importance than the prayer meeting or the spread of the gospel message. It was far harder to reach the hearts of an English congregation than those of the ignorant, heathen Chinese.”

Romans 8:13-17 (King James Version)

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Being Led of the Spirit

Point 1:

The spirit of man is the “Candle of the Lord”

Proverbs 20:27 (King James Version)

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

God enlightens us through our spirits – not our physical senses. Going by physical senses gets us into trouble! So find anywhere in the scriptures where it says God will guide us through our mentality.

Yet we find “Christians” discuss matters, work matters out and even ask God to bless their discussions. He simply does not.

We are to be obedient to what HE SAYS. He has no obligation on Him to be obedient to what our intellect says!

Isaiah 55:8 (King James Version)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Point 2:

What is Man?

In addressing the new Purpose Driven model, the understanding of what man is - is so important. The stability of the Church is that God does not change, and so the believer in union with Christ Jesus is the Rock, is the foundation. Take that away and there is trouble so man is made on God's image to be one in Him.

Genesis 1:26-27 (King James Version)

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

*  Man is Made in the Likeness of God

John 4:24 (King James Version)

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

* So what are we?

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (King James Version)

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

*  What was Paul referring to and do we die?

Philippians 1:23-24 (King James Version)

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Point 3: Is there an Inward Man?

As a Christian Minister it  is so much easier to minister in Asia then in Great Britain for we do not face intellectualism there but spirituality. There are those in Britain who profess to be Christians yet move with the intellect, the outward man, yet it is our inward man that gets renewed, from here our outward man comes in line with the inward man.

This order is so important for in "purpose-driven" God is asked to bless the intellect! It is obedience that he blesses.

The true Christian is born of the Spirit, thinks by the Spirit and is one in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:16 (King James Version)

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

John 3 (King James Version)

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

1 Peter 3:4 (King James Version)

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

When you are Born Again – the Old Way is passed away – the new way is moving by the Spirit

2 Corinthians 5:17 (King James Version)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away ; behold, all things are become new.

The miss-use of the modern day Isaiah 43 "new thing" is that the forgetting of the former things is the forgetting of slavery - not the forgetting of the foundation stone of God!

Point 4: Moving with
Spirit-Consciousness!

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (King James Version)

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

*  Look at Paul’s priority in his writing above and look at the priority in other scriptures.

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

1 John 4:17 (King James Version)

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

* We know all of us have become “mental-conscious” at times but what Biblical basis is there for mental consciousness to have the priority position?

This is our challenge to the "Purpose-Driven" Church!
