Romans 7:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Our righteousness is not in our ability to keep law, but is in our obedience to Christ as we hear from him and act accordingly.
We have discovered in Wales however that there is a religion of good works that involves a code of self righteousness. Those who fit not into the system are looked down upon, the system being one of natural righteousness, one of respectability, one that looks good to the world but to God is of filthy rags.
